WIN XP PRO hangs on boot screen

Comment:
I recently upgraded XP HOme to XP Pro from within XP. However, whenever windows boots to start XP Pro, it hangs at the boot screen, and stays there for hours on hours.
Though the boot screen has been updated to say XP Professional, it doesn't go past that.
So I reboot from the XP Pro CD and try to do a recovery. It asks me for an administrator password. I don't know what the default one is as I have not been asked to set such as password???
I would still like to salvage some files from the "my documents" folder.

Hi, Try to boot into safe mode,if you didnt put a password in there isnt one, just leave it blank, recover what you want to keep, then ide recomend you do a proper full install, not a upgrade. Oz
