Definatly upgrade your RAM to at least 256. SD is dirt cheap. Its like $10 for 256 now online and in stores. I would also disable any visual things in XP,as this eats up your memory. Windows key + Pause/Break , advanced , settings, custon, uncheck everything you can live without, especially visual styles. Also, increase your virtual memory (page file):
In the same place i just directed you to, click on the Advanced Tab and click CHANGE at the botton where the pagefile is. Click custom size and change BOTH the Minimum and maximum to the same number (makes it faster) and make the amount as much as want, at lease 300MB , 400 or 500MB is good too.

that should solve your problem, if not, you need a better card with more memory. a GF4 Ti4200 is like $130 online.

um, or maybe any Video card at all.
By onboard are you talking about shared video memory? Or do you have a card built into the board.
If the former i would really suggest getting a proper video card.
heh if you dont have enough for a GF4 you could always just go GF2, bout $30 or so, hell of a lot better than onboard
