Hi all, Will I be sorry if I install XP on a Dell Inspiron 5000 notebook with a 500 mhz Celeron and 128 mb Ram? Any opinions would be appreciated. Tia Gary

You wouldn't run into any major problems if you installed XP. One thing to note though is that since XP is the WinNT kernal and not the 9x kernal much more is loaded and running at once than say, WinME. In addition WinXP added all kinds of multimedia extensions and compatibility modes on top. The only reason you should make the move to WinXP is if you use your laptop for networking (Espically for wireless networks)...otherwise I would stick to WinME or prior.
Windows XP does have a bunch of built in functions that would increase your battery life by shutting down devices not currently being used (modems, speakers, etc).
One more thing to note: if you do upgrade to WinXP there is a chance that some of your hardware may not be detected so you may want to be a little wary.

I have RC2 running with a dual boot 98 on a Dell 5000E and it works great. So I'm assuming a final version should also run well. Good Luck
