Brand new Compaq Presario XP Home Edition SP1 installed. Sound was working but now I get an error saying there are no active mixers installed. This happens when I try to play any type of audio. When I go into my sound properties everything is greyed out. In device manager under sound, video game controllers I have Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers listed 4 times Legacy Video capture devices listed once, Media control devices listed once and VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller {WDM} listed once. If I check the properties all devices are enabled and functioning including mixers. I can't seems to find anything on line as to an error about having no active mixer devices avaiable. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and still everything is greyed out. My speakers are working & when I turn them on and the Vol is turned up on the speakers I here noise. Not music or anything but almost a humming noise. Here are my system stats below if anyone could help out.. I have posted this question now 2 times and know one can seem to figure it out. I already tried to uninstall & reinstall. When I do it just installs the same settings mixer included but everything is still greyed out.. I'm looking for a way to resolve this without doing a restore if anyone knows please let me know
