If that is what you wanted then you will have to live with it.

The media center is a good choice if you are into pictures and editing them and into hooking up your system to a tv for displaying and using your computer as a radio/stereo.

The workssuite(poor version of word) is really not necessary as Open Office has a much better office/spreadsheet program and can be converted to excel or word and it is free.

also the mcaffee virus protection in MHO has gottenn as bad as symantic and becomes so deeply embeded within your system that it weighs it down plus there are free versions that are just as good if not better.

You fell into that AOL garbage and all the trash that comes with it as it forces you to use certain software that loads your system with spyware and adds

The adobie acrobat 7 is out and is free unless you just have to like paying for the pro version that most people will never use or understand.

The financial package that is preinstalled is in conflict with what comes with the works suite as M$ works and other office software will automatically try to override anything that is not within the suite package including some of M$ on programs as publisher.

The actual hardware choices are really superb other than it being built by third party OEM proprietary issues. Not bashing Dell it is just the way things are.

Oh and the extra backup package is also a waste as your burning software that comes with the DL DVD burner will be able to perform as good if not better. Sonic or nero either one.

My above post is not meant to discourage you on your purchase but to enlighten you to why we techs favor to build our own. not having a full warranty as you will with your system is the only draw back to building your own. Other than that the system comes away much cleaner and less troublesome than you will ever have with the add-ons that are incorporated within the OEM big builders such as HP/Dell/Sony or Toshiba.

Just my humble opinion.

Ditto to lurkswithin's comments above.

FYI Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition is Windows XP Pro with entertainment addons.

Operating System Backup & Recovery Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition backup CD

That is only a recovery cd. Do not confuse it with retail Windows XP CD.

Another FYI...

Microsoft Works is M$'s no-frill, low-cost alternative to M$ flagship M$ Office. It is intended for use on home environments only. If you plan to use the PC for work, you most likely will need M$ Office.
