I finally got an OS installed on my new system, i had to buy Win XP Media Center 2005 with SP2.
MotherBoard: GA-K8NSC
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+
Ram: Crosair 1GB Dual Channel
HDD: 20GB maxtor, 120 GB WesternDigitalThe problem is when i try to do anything it gets slow then acts like noting is wrong then gets slow again and so on, this happends when i try to do anything/everything. I tried to install the motherboard drivers from the cd but it will always "stop responding".
It hangs then its normal again. I tried only using 1 stick of ram, changing the slot the ram is in. Its not an overheating problem, the CPU is at 30C everytime i boot up and go into the Bios.
What on gods green earth would cause this????

Mind if I ask where did you buy it? As a matter of fact M$ doesn't sell it as a boxed product anywhere through through the retail chains.

I got it off www.shopping.com
Sorry it wasnt SP2, i was thinking of my old XP Pro i had prevously installed on the HDDs that are in my new system.

XpUser ... That was the case once but not anymore I can buy media center at my local hardware/software store (not a retail store open to the public just licensed builders with an account)

Hello everyone,
Microsoft's website still states;
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is only available pre-installed on computers sold by PC manufacturers. You can purchase a PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 pre-installed at retail consumer electronic stores, direct from PC manufacturers, or through online consumer electronics Web sites.
If you click on the Find a local PC Builer from that same page, you can search for a "Media Center PC Builder".
All of them sell an OEM version.

Well, this thread was hijacked....can we please stay focused on my problem with my new system? Does anyone have any ideas????

CTRL ALT DELETE
Click PROCESSES
Click CPU
Move this window to the side, and when the computer slows down again, see which Image Name is using 99% of your CPU, and post it in here. You may want to check it a few times before posting to insure that it's the same process each time.

system idle process is using 97% at idle when i stick in the gigabyte resource cd setup takes up about 10%, then explorer jumps up to 40%, then taskmgr.exe is at 3% then stays at 3%. when i move the mouse csrss.exe jumps up to 3%. Other then that noting else uses the CPU
