Win XP machine won't access workgroup

Hi
I am having problems with an XP Pro Machine.
When I try to look at computers in my local workgroup I get an error message saying "Workgroup is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."
Which is an interesting considering i am able to ping all other PCs on the network( Three 98 machines and another XP pro with the same settings that is working).
I have made sure that Netbios over TCP is turned on as well as checking that the Computer browser service is running.

Right Click on My Computer --> system properties --> JOIN A WORKGROUP
make sure you do this from the main computer and all workgroup names are the same

Thanks for the response, but after checking my network settings and making sure I could ping all other hosts in the workgroup that was the first thing I did.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue before?

put in your XP disc and make sure you have autorun on. click on install optional windows components and then make sure you have everything checked. then click ok or whatever then reboot after its done. you may have to do it a couple times but it'll work.
