Win XP Logon failure from workgroup

Comment:
I tried to set up a home network with my laptop, so I changed the machine to a workgroup instead of the domain it was already set to and now I can no longer logon to my machine.
I was prompted to provide a username and password when I changed to a workgroup but it does not work and I do not have the option of logging onto the local machine to uise the administrator's password becasue that option is not available from the logon window. Any ideas??

Hi, Open System in Control Panel. On the Computer Name tab, click Change. Under Member of, click Workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that you want to join, and then click OK. If your computer was a member of a domain before you joined the workgroup, it will be disjoined from the domain and your computer account will be disabled. Bob

I would, but I can't logn to the machine at all because the username and password I specified when I joined the workgroup do not work and the option to log on to the loca machine with the administrator's password is not available. I can't even log onto the machine anymore. is there anyway around this?
Thanks Bob.

You could try F8 at start up and select last known good configuration. Don't know whether it will work in this circumstance but there's no harm in trying.

Did you try the options button in the lower right hand corner of the logon screen. The user name and password you supplied was an account with permissions to disjoin the domain.(it was a domain account and will not work on your local machine unless there are duplicate accounts.) Try safe mode and verify that you really are a member of a workgroup
