TNT2 pro videoI have been having major issues in lat few days with my keyboard. I was playing a few games the other day and suddenly my keybaord stopped responding. I rebooted and got the error "ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or corrupt, please fix or replac windows unable to load." I kept getting this message but when i unplugged my keybaord XP manged to boot up, however I was unable to get into the system cause it requires a password, which with no working keyboard, I couldn't type in (and no its not the keyboard as I ave tried 4 other keyboards, including te one i am using now) I fixed this problem by removing my HDD and booting up Win XP and on another syem and copied the file accross to mine. This fixed the probem for about 25 mins until the file agin became corupted. I scanned for virii. and found nothing. So in a last gasp attempt I formatted and reinstalled Win XP, this solved the problem for about a day until I wake up this morning and my keybaord again is not working, however I now don't the missing file warning, but it boots to my pasword screen. I cant even get ino BIOS anymore! I suspect the ps2 port may be the problem but I'm not sure, I haven' yet tried a usb keyboard in my system and I don't want to go out and buy one only to find that XP is the problem not my hardware.

I would try checking and replacing the CMOS battery. They are not very expensive. And something may be set wrong in the BIOS Setup related to the keyboard. Is it a USB or standard keyboard? Look at those settings.

I believe that ntoskrnl.exe has something to do with your bootup. Were you playing around in there? maybe bootxp?
can you do a safe boot? if you can, try to do a system restore to a point before you began to have problems

No it just happened out of the blue, I don't stuff around in my bootup at all.
I am having serious problems now and I fear it may be my mobo.I bought a new keybaord as we had ecided that was causing problems and it was old anyway. To be on the safe side we bought a usb keyboard cause we thought the problem was related to my ps2 port.
Anyway I come home with my new keybaord try to boot up and i have a corrupt ntoskrnl.exe again! Ithis is after formatting for a second time in two days wish a frsh install of XP Pro. When i turn on my system it makes a terrible beeping noise, and won't boot up, however, now I'm really worried as I took my HDD out and tried to start my sytem up just to see if it made the noise and whether or not it was in fact related to my windows install, but it still made the terrible noise, and of course couldn't load my OS cause there was no HDD in there.
is this related to my cmos or do i need a new mobo?
I hope not!

Hi, I encounter the same problem as you do.
It all started one day. My PC internals suddenly released non-stop beeps and my keyboard jammed and the whole &$@!ing system hanged. Reboot. Error message came up : ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or corrupt, please fix or replace windows unable to load." I rebooted again. Before I could even boot into WWntoskrnl.exe file is missing or corrupt, please fix or replac windows unable to load." I was still at my first DOS boot up screen where they tell you you hard disk etc. and haven't even booted into Windows XP professional yet when my hard disk suddenly gave out non-stop crazy beeps. I tried this a few more times, only to get the same result. I couldn't tolerate this any longer and wanted to access my bios by pressing the del key on boot. The incredible thing is, my keyboard COULDN'T WORK. Now I am at my wit's end.I cannot even attemmpt to reformat the PC because 1) my hard disk emits funny sounds and hangs the pc 2) I cannot boot into Windows 3) my keyboard would not work on boot.
No, its not the keyboard's problem. Is there any one who can solve this damn prob! I don't want to get a new hard drive!

Well, I have had the same problem as all of you. I tried three different keyboards but still got the same error. The craziest thing though is that when I tried a fourth keybard which just happened to be a Microsoft keyboard everything worked just fine. Makes me wonder........ xp=microsoft keyboard=microsoft ???????????????

Just encountered same problem on my machine, but keyboard is still working, but still getting a lost or currupt message on PC.

I had the same problem with the error message (corrupt ntoskrnl.exe) and the keybooard not working. I disconnected everything, reconnected only the mouse keyboard and VDU and started again. Hey presto, Computer works. I then used system restore to go back before the problem originally occured (when using a scanner btw). But does anyone know if the file is still corrupt. I think its more than a case of just copying it. I don't want to go using the restore cd as its such a pain.
Any ideas people?
