At one time my system ran great it was running Win 2k and working like a dream Win XP came out so i bought this as I usually upgrade my OS every year or so, install went fine. I have been using XP for about 3 months and no problems. I reguarly update my graphics card (Hercules 3D Prophet 4500) drivers but I installed the latest drivers and my PC would occasionally crash while playing games (Open GL and Direct X)I carried on using it for a few days then I installed Tweak XP this is when all the trouble began. The PC kept reguarly crashing so I refomatted and am trying to install Win XP it gets to copying files for setup and then stops and says can't copy setupapi.dll. So i reformat again try win2k it does the same again but with the file shell32.dll. I tried installing Win 98 and it works fine no problems. Sometimes during install of Win XP/2k i would get blue screens saying :
non default page or something and irq not equal or less. My PC Specs:
AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz
512 DDR
Hercules Prophet 3D 4500 AGP
SoundBlaster 1024 PCI
ISDN 128k PCI

I have heard on other foums about an AGP work around or something ?
if anyone could help me i would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance

If you are trying to install win xp and have that kind of problems, try pulling out non-essential cards(e.g: everything but the graphics card). Once xp is up and running, you can add these cards one at a time. Hope this helps. Bye

Bad memory is a possibility - especially if that message was more along the lines of "page fault - trying to page from a non-pageable area". XP does not tolerate memory errors during install. Use Google to find memtest86. It is a good diagnostic and it is free.
