Comment:

I have just finished a clean install of Win XP when I had the CD in the drive it worked fine but as soon as I remove it i get the Non-System Disk error message. I have tried to fix this by reinstalling it again, then i tried running fixboot c: from the repair console then doing a installation repair job. Still no joy... Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Are you sure your BIOS is reading your drives correctly? I had an odd problem where my C drive didn't seem to exist when I booted with a win98 floppy even though it was FAT, because it had EZ-BIOS installed on it. WinXP loaded without a hitch, this only happened with bootdisks. Once I removed that everything worked fine, maybe some variation of this is happening to you

I believe the BIOS is fine although I am not completely sure. When I ran fixmbr it said that the boot record was not standard. So I gather it might be something to do with the HD not the BIOS. Any ideas?
