Win Xp install error code 7
Name: Ballbagious_Maximus Date: October 9, 2002 at 02:36:54 Pacific OS: Windows Xp Pro 4.600 CPU/Ram: Athlon XP 1600+ / Kingmax
The problem is that when trying to install XP, after inspecting computer hardware config, it loads windows executive files, but when loading hardware abstraction layer i get the error message: could not load halaacpi.dll The error code is 7. Also sometimes another error which is the same file but error code 4096. Setup exits after this. I have tried fiddling with every setting in the registry, and setting the RAM to 266mhz with least aggressive timings to no avail. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated and help me to get my machine up and going.

I have this problem also but with setupdd.sys not loading....At present I have a 80gb HDrive, Mobo is a dual SuperMicro (450mhzx2), 256mb ram, with basic AG vid card, and a atapi CD rom. Before I tried to correct a weird restartproblem I had XP Pro on the HD that I partitioned to 40 and ~40mb. and It works fine for sometime then it flips the switch on me and restarts out of nowhere!!So everytime I want to use my PC it will work for sometime (2 min 10min?) then restarts(at this time I had everything working I also had a scsi card with a writer and cd reader and external Jaz and Zip drives). So to resolve this..I thought it was a bad power supply. I replaced it with a new one...same deal. Then I thought maybe the Video card or memory...I replaced...still same thing. I removed the scsi card, and I dont remember if it did ever boot, but now I have the corrupt Kernel. So I tried to repair the XP Pro and I got the SAME error code 7 or code 4..regarding setupdd.sys not being able to load. Then I tried the XP floppy boot disks, and I had to rename the d~ with the actual letter and it got to the forth disk then it again gave an error and the disks didnt work(have used the disks before with success)..SO IM SOOOOOO fed up at this point...does anyone have a clue what the hell this maybe...Mind you I have been around computers for over 15 years and Im a bit puzzled! I dont have a back up of my drive, and running out of options.ANY help would be appreciated!!(and no wise cracks on the 15 years and still..etc)
