win xp freeze up

MY SIS HAS A HP MEDIA CENTER 1170N THAT FREEZES UP AFTER ABUT 15 MINUTES OF USE. YOU CAN WAIT A WHILE AND IT WILL UN FREZE ON IT'S ON AND WORK FOR 15 MORE THEN FREEZES AGAIN. OR WHEN IT FREEZES YOU CAN REBOOT AND UNFREEZE XP AND MOST OFTEN THE SOUND DROPS OUT TILL ANOTHER REBOOT. NO HELP FROM HP CUSTOMER SERVICE. PC IS BRAND NEW, HAVE FOUGHT IT FOR 4 WEEKS.CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY IDEAS? THANKS walt painter
