Please can anyone help?

I designed some (TrueType)fonts recently and since I added them to my Fonts file in 'Control Panel' all typefaces/fonts when using Photoshop Elements 2 are now jagged - very heavily pixelated.

I've deleted all of the new fonts that I added but the problem persists. I don't know what to adjust/re-adjust in whatever settings, and experience tells me not to attempt anything I'm not sure of.

I guess these new font files (they were TrueType) have somehow corrupted how Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 reads the fonts in general.

In Microsoft Works and all other applications the fonts are unaffected....

I know for certain that the problem began immediately after I added the new fonts. As I mentioned they are now deleted but Adobe Photoshop E2 is not handling ANY fonts correctly.

Please can anyone suggests some safe fixesto the issue?

Thanks,

Regards
Photoshopper

If Photoshop Elements is the only program affected by this the obvious solution is to uninstall/ reinstall the program or repair the program if that option is available.

Go to Control Panel> Add/remove programs and select Photoshop. You may get an option to repair the program. If so use it. If not, then remove it and reboot before reinstalling.

It may be a good idea to run a registry cleaner too. It is possible a registry cleaner may correct the problem without repair or reinstallation. Try that first.

CCleaner has a basic registry module is has proven to be safe to use. Just in case use the backup function when it is offered anyway. CCleaner is excellent when used for general housekeeping. I use it at least daily. Find it below.

You most likely will need the CD for Photoshop to correct the issue.

Hi, Thanks for the advice, I couldn't find my own thread, so have just found your reply!

Yes both questions relate to this thread...

I've tried RegClean, did a restore using Master-DVD and still the problem is there.

And did a full restore using the MasterDVD I created on first setting up in 2006.

PC-World's "TechGuys" have helped me run a diagnostic on the hrad drives and it passed all tests. And they are reccomending running recovery-CDs provided by Packard Bell (the PCs manufacturer.) These will cost around £35. But there is the "what if that does no more than my own Master-DVD" concern (money is tight at present.)

I tried as you suggested.. looked in add-remove programmes bu there is no "change" option only 'remove'.

I reloaded Photoshop and that hasn't altered the condition of fonts. It isn't a screen resolution thing... I say that because if I 'fix' the type laid over any blank or photo jpeg it is saved exactly in that pixelated way.

If I look at type up large in Microsoft Works, there is no problem at all, (all computer display type is fine also.

Would you advise going for Packard Bell's
recovery disks?

Thanks for your advice so far!

Below is a link to your other thread.

Do you have an option to perform a System Restore? Look in the start menu under help and support to see if that option is available. If it is choosing a restore point prior to the creation of the fonts may solve the problem.

Not sure how Packard Bell computers work with restore disks. Many OEM makers do NOT originally supply restore disks and instead instruct the original purchaser to make them.

If this is the case with Packard Bell you MAY still have that option, if disks were never created. I would check your manual.

Are you the original owner?
