Win XP Fatal Error

When trying to make a clean install of win XP after formating with the CD i get a fatal error saying one of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Manifest Parse Error : Invalid at top level of the document. In the log it says SXS.DLL: syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\1386\asms\600\msft\windows\common\controls\controls.man" on line0. This happens on a clean install and a upgrade install. My system is a P2400 256Mb Ram 10GB HDD PC747 Mobo. any sugestions would be nice.

If you have scsi card, remove it first and install your xp again. Put the scsi card back to the computer after u finish install.

OMG thats gotta suck! I just installed XP from a pirated CD (who cares?, microsoft? hehe) and when i tried to upgrade i got some twack error too, and my PC froze and then got all gimpy! But i just did a clean install and now i have an AWESOME pc running XP
Summary: Nope that's not the Cd-rom fault. I've got this error and have found with microsoft dev team the prob. If it's the same problem than me your not able to install big things from cd-rom like game too....
