I built my new computer with a friend and bought win xp with it. The problem is, whenever I try installing win xp, I get the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error message when starting to install (after copying the files and all that) I tryed a lot of things: installing it on another hd, removing ram, my audio card, my ethernet card, changing some BIOS stuf... I read that the error message is caused because of hardware incompatibility. The only hardware I haven't yet tried switching is: my processor, my motherboard (ECS K7VZA 3) and my video card (MSI StarForce GeForce 3) and I think I have this problem because of my motherboard...

Any ideas?

Thx

Phil

Hi,

I think you are the first person on this website having this problem, I has been read over a 100+ posted and none are like these, even my own use. What you can do it try to download a bootup disk from MS website and bootup from that. There are 6disk in total(floppy) and i hope this will work.

Thanks I'll try that, by the way my problem is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q311/5/64.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=0x0000000a&rnk=4&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WINXP

but nothing of what they suggested helped me.... I had forgotten to give my system description if this can help:

AMD T-bird 1.4 ghz
1.5 gig sdram pc-133
ECS K7VZA mobo
MSI GeForce3 64megs
SMC EZ Card PC 10 Adapter

If this can help someone understand my problem, on the BS is written:

"Technical Informations:
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x806BA11E)
I think it's related to the hardware that makes the installation crash
Thanks

Phil

Sorry that i cant give u much help here....
but my friend recently bought the same board as yours and it sux BIG time! The pc would juz hang while using media player and we noe its not the card problem cos he bought it from mi and i was using it perfectly...
You got a terrific system there, but your mainboard seemed to be the black sheep causing the problem, so y dun you try with another board... i would recomend Msi, or Epox.

Cheerios
