I recently built a new computer, everything works fine, except that after bootup, the comp freeze up and crash within 3 to 5 min. and i can't do the crtl+alt+del because the whole OS is locked up, when i do a reset bootup, the OS works fine after that, i don't know what could be the problem, does anyone know what could cause this?
Here is what i have on my comp:
Abit KX7-333 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ cpu
430 watt power supply
512 megs ram
Geforce4 Ti 4200se vid card
Linksys nic card
Sound Blaster Live card
US Robotics modem

One word:
Overheating
You are most likely overheating. Make sure you have an AMD aproved cpu fan, as well as a nice chasis fan to keep the case cool.

Hi,
I am having problems with my soundblaster live card while running WinXP Pro. Just wondering how you got your to work on your computer. Did u have to do anything special. please let me know. Either post up to here or email me on the address above

I have very similar specs to you:
Gigabyte 7dxr Motherboard
1800+ Athlon xp
Geforce 4 ti4600
256DDR ram
Cable modem ( using a D-Link ethernet card)
Soundblaster Live 1024I also have a very good case with 3 extra fans. My average system temperature is 23 C
and CPU temp is 33CBut xp still crashes within a few minutes of loading up. I have all the latest drivers etc..
