Hi,

I had a W32.Rontokbro or some s--- virus attack on my laptop. Have managed to clean up the system of this virus with a lot of help from this forum and thanks for that. But lately a new problem has come up. Whenever i double click the c drive icon in my computer i get a Open with... window saying 'Choose the program you want to use to open this file: File C:\'

I hv already tried the "FixDrive.zip" which should correct the problem.

The fixdrive thing works but after restarting the laptop the problem remains.

please help

thanks
mm

Easy fix:

Start>Run...
Type regedit
goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Delete MountPoints2 (looks like a folder)

Logout and Logon and you're done.

Further, there can also be an infected autorun.ini file. This can occur via flash drive or other external hard drive coming in contact with an infected computer.

A sign of this is when you right click on the drive that keeps prompting you, you'll see "Îòêðûòü" where "Open" should have been.

An infected autorun.ini file looks like this (from my flash drive):

[autorun]
open=
shell\open=Îòêðûòü
shell\open\Command=870707FC.exe
shell\open\Default=1

Simply deleting that ini file will fix things. you can also edit the ini file to the correct settings, but I'd rather delete it.
