Hi all!
recently i downloaded ubuntu linux from the
net.. it was a bootable cd i formated my C: drive(with win98) with it
( it was okay cause i have xp) but now the boot screen shows me the
foll. error:"This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and
press any key to try again"Luckily i have another HDD with win98 in it and luckily my win xp was
in FAT32 thus i can read the winxp drive but there were two partitions
with NTFS system :(
Pls help me recover my win xp installation as it has some very imp data!!Regards,
Gaurav

You have erased the computers boot record. It was stored on your C:\ partition, now it's gone.
You can try downloading something that can rewrite a boot log, but I have no idea how you're going to do that since the drive has been erased..
Use your second HDD and repartition it. Install XP in NTFS on the new partition and then you will be able to recover your data from the screwed up drive. - MAYBE --

If you have a XP cd where you can boot into the Recovery Console. (do not change or add hdds)
1)run "fixboot"
2)run "bootcfg /rebuild"
3)(note: I do not know if fixboot copys the below files or not)if when booting it gives error "missing NTLDR or NTDETECT"-
you will need to copy NTLDR and NTDETECT from the CD/i386 folder to the hdd C:.
