Win XP audio driver is installed but sound is not working

Specs: Windows XP, CPU
In windows xp os audio driver installed. Sound is not working . What can i do now?

You can try uninstalling the audio driver, then restart the computer it should note the missing driver and re install it when Windows reloads. If that does not work you can download a newer version of the audio driver and install it, see if that solves the issue. Make sure the sound is not muted in some setting. Make sure speakers are turned on and did not come unplugged.

On the General tab of Sound & Audio Device Properties, does it say "No Audio Device"? Accessed via the Control Panel.

I think #1 meant to uninstall or disable the driver from "Device Manager", which can sometimes do the trick on restart.

You say the driver's installed but did you check its status in device manager? Any yellow marks there associated with the audio?
