Okay I've got 2 SATA drives for my winxp system. i do not want them in a RAID setup, so one is in SATA1 and the other in SATA3. for the last few days ive only had 1 drive plugged in to the SATA3 and thats the one i'm using. it took me forever to get winxp installed on it, as i needed 3rd party drivers and had to F6 during winxp installation in order to get the OS to recognize the SATA drives. the problem now is that i just plugged the other SATA drive into SATA1 (tried all the others too), and its not recognized anywhere (winxp, cmos, bios, etc.). during the boot it checks for hard drives and lists the one im currently using but not the other sata.
ive never worked with sata drives before. i want to know how i can get this 2nd sata drive installed on my system so i can have 2 hard drives, not in a RAID setup. i have no idea where to start, so any input would be great. thanks

What does the manual for the motherboard say? Is 1 and 2 (0,1) actually only for raid?

The manual says that raid can only be done on SATA 1 and 2... but it doesn't necessarily say that 1 and 2 have to be raid if used together. it says only 1 and 3 are bootable. my boot hdd is in 3 and i just figured i could put the other one in 4 to have 2 hdds, but i cant get anything to recognize the other drive.
