I have an internal modem motorola 56,6 V60 and windows XP don't autodetect it. I try to add it my self by adding new hardware and selecting it from a list but when it prompts me for the port it is installed I can only choose ports COM1 and 2 and not 4 in which it is installed. What can I do?

Chances are there are no XP drivers available. I couldn't find any on the web.

Hi there.. I also HAD an motorola sm56 internal modem. After hours of configuration I got the stupid modem get found in Windows XP CORRECTELY BUT!!!! It didnīt work.... It works very fine in Windows 98 but not in Windows XP AND I DO HAVE the right drivers (For windows 2000)... My guess is that the modem is too old for Windows XP to handle.. Sorry...

I too HAD a motorola modem.

First it didn't work

Then I finally found a suitable driver on the (very chaotic) motorola website. Now my modem worked up to 28.8 kbps. I don't have the URL anymore though, but it might be worthwhile to search their website. The driver is called
'W2K_DFV_PCI2_84.32_1of1.exe'

Then I reinstalled XP and for some reason I got a hardware faillure everytime I tried to make a connection.

Now I just bought a new modem that does work normally... :(

My Motorola SM56 initially worked.

I then reinstalled XP and it decided not to work.

I finally got it reworking by reformatting the harddrive and doing a full install. I used the drivers for win 2000 which are freely available over the net.

I now has no problems.
