I recently went to broadband and no longer use my dial-up for email nd insyead use Microsoft Outlook. Unfortunately, everytime I click on a box to change my email(such as ebay)it automatically sends it to my okld dial-up server. How can I have it go to my broad band by default. I seem to remember a box that I checked that asked if I wanted to use Compuserve as my email default and I clicked yes but now I cannot find it to change it!
Thanks in advance,
Ray

Email addresses are mostly supplied through your ISP. and when you change ISP's you loose your old Email logon. Most providers will allow up to five free ones but you must first get the approval for the names

MSN, Gmail and a few others are stand alone.

Your email address will need to be reconfigured through outlook. You will need to get the needed information from your ISP support.

"Unfortunately, everytime I click on a box to change my email(such as ebay)it automatically sends it to my okld dial-up server" I'm confused by your description of the problem. Are you having trouble with Outlook, or are you getting email at your old accounts when you want it to go to the new ones? Or is the problem a connection issue?

Firstly, if you've changed email addresses, you'll need to go into your eBay account and change it there. Then, assuming you've configured Outlook properly for your new email account(s), go into IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections, and make sure there are no dial-up connections. If there are, remove them. Then, go to Programs, and set Outlook as your default email client.

I hope that's what you're asking...

as lurkswithin stated, there are other standalone emails like gmail, msn and also yahoo. I use Gmail and Yahoo and dropped outlook express years ago. That way, when I change ISP's I don't lose my email account and also I don't have to send people new email addresses which always seems to confuse them. The choice is yours.

Jennifer explained how to change your email defaults with great info.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Thanks for the help! What I was trying to explain was that when I went to certain sites that I needed to email, a box would say "contact or email or something like that. I would click on it and my computer would automatically launch compuserve as if that was ISP and email prtovider which it is not anymore. I know I might be explaining this clearly...sorry!
