Here's what I did for my SJ5100c. I used the HP 98 software then d/l the small update for XP and it works no worries. Get it here: http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swdl.pl?c=sj660&i=sj660mu&p=c5197a&n=hp+scanjet+5100c+scanner+(PC)
