Just wanted to know if I need to reactivate Win Xp / Off XP after a reinstallation with no changes to hardware.
Hi Yeh look from what i have read around the place it should not ask you to activate again but who knows what new thing microsoft have come up with. You might wanna wait for the real techs to answer it cause i know it can be a pain

You will have to reactivate XP after each and every install unless you save your activation data. If there have not been any changes to hardware, activation goes without a problem. Activation is only supposed to rear its head when it detects a major change in hardware. This is what is supposed to happen. After activating XP on one computer, then replacing said computer with a brand new Dell, the same copy of XP avtivated and Office activated without any problem. Is this normal?? I don't know and it flies in the face of everything I have read about XP. Is Avtivation broke? Possibly.
Go ahead and reinstall your XP on the new hardware. Worst scenario is that you will have to call Microsoft and explain to them what has happened. They are usually sympathetic.
