Hi there
Some help needed - have a completely legit copy of Win XP that I am trying to activate over the net.
Laptop keeps dialling up, saying it is activating, then verifying activation... then, however, it tells me:
Unable to establish a connection with the activation server. Please check your network settings and confirm that you are able to connect to the internet, then try again.

Microsoft has an article on this, and tells me it is something to do with an incorrect system clock, or hardware or BIOS problems, or something. I have gone into what I assume to be the system clock (I don't know much about these things), in the BIOS, and it is spot on.
I have now tried reinstalling Windows XP - same problem.
Any advice most gratefully received to a baffling problem. Thanks...
Jeremy
PS The microsoft article is at:

Jeremy set your time correctly by going to Time.gov. Click on your state and it should set it for you.
Kevin.

Thanks Kevin - I am actually currently living in France, unfortunately... do you know of anything similar for Europe?
J.
