Win restarts instead of going off

My system restarts when I tell it to turn off (Start>Turn computer off>Deactivate).

I've found that sometimes XP crashes as its restarting resulting with a very, very quick flash of a blue screen.
I suspect MS don't want people to think XP is crashing, so the default setting for blue screens is an instant restart. To fix this:
Right-click 'My Computer' and choose properties.
Click the 'Advanced' tab and then press the third 'Settings' button.
Then about half way down the new window you'll see 'Automatically restart' - remove the check from the box and try restarting the computer. If you see the blue screen this time you'll be able to get the error code and feed it into the MS site for assistance.
