Hi all;
Odd problem this; Windows Media Player 10 has stuttering playback with certain movies. I first noticed it when playing a .wma file back, and thought it was a damaged copy of the movie... it would play fine until the final quarter or so, and then the video just stopped (although sound continued). However, replacing the copy of the video made no difference. Then I noticed that playing a different .avi file gave stuttering video all the way through it. It's not the codecs, as I've got the latest versions of them... besides which, both movies play fine in other players such as WinAmp, and even play perfectly under Windows Movie Maker too. It's just Win Media Player 10 that doesn't seem to like them... does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Thanks.
(repost from earlier, in the wrong Win OS group)

Why do you have to use Windows Media Player? Try using alternative players like Media Player Classic (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html) or VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
I prefer Media Player Classic, but they're both much better than Windows Media Player.

The best media player I found was videolan. a google search will get you to it. It doesn't matter what i ask it to play, it plays it no problem. It'd probably play a digestive if my kid stuck one in the drive lol. (Err, I won't find out though ok).
