Will Celeron Work OK w/XP Home?

Does anyone know if a Celeron 1GHZ will work ok with XP Home? A relative of mine wants to be able to play games online. Currently he has a Nvidia GeForce4, 64m card and Win ME with his Celeron. Thanks, Bruce

I have a Duron 900 (AMD's equivalent of the Celeron) with a 64 meg GeForce 4, and i can run some good games online with no probs at all, Medal of Honor, Operation Flashpoint, Wolfenstein, Ghost Recon etc, It even runs Splinter Cell well! If these are the sort of games he'll be playing, then he'll have no probs at all. But if however you want to be able to run Unreal II at high frame rates, you'll have no chance!!

One thing i would say, is make sure he has 256 meg of RAM, thats really the minimum for Xp.

I have XP Pro running nicely on Dell Optiplex office PCs that have Celeron 466 CPS with 192mb RAM. They run much better than they did with Win98!
