Will a lot of video games slow down my comput

Specs: Windows XP, 504 MB
My wife has about 20 or so Popcap and other games on her Dell XP computer and it is so
slow that the Firefox browser will hardly come up. I have run AVG antivirus, Lavasoft Adware,
and registry key cleaners, but this hasn't helped. Does anyone have an idea why it is so slow?

Dell Dimension DVO51
Intel (R)
Pentium (R) 4 CPU
2.79 GHz 504 MB Ram
Local Disc C:
Free space 35.9 GB
Total size: 51.2 GB

P.S. I turned off System Restore before running the AVG
virus software scan, but no virus showed up.

You have 504mb of RAM... XP needs at least 1 gig. Increase your Ram for a start.

Installing software or games will not slow down your computer, that is a myth.

But from what I can see your computer needs more memory and it will slow down if your storage becomes close to full.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I checked with Dell parts and it calls for two modules for the 1 GB upgrade. They run $34.95 each, so the upgrade will total about $75.00. Does this sound about right?

Thanks everyone for the input. I did pick up a lot of spyware and adware the
last time I ran my Lavasoft Adware and there was a suspicious item that was
described as a potential threat. I'm not sure by turning off the system restore
that it caught something that had been lurking there or not, but now it is running
much better. I will still order the upgrade for RAM.
