I'm having recently acquired file transfer problems on my home network:

I can access my downstairs computer from my upstairs computer, and I can copy files from my downstairs computer to my upstairs, BUT I cannot copy certain exe files. I get an error message saying something about an access violaation, I do not have permission, or the drive might be write-protected (which it is not). Other exe files it will copy with no problems. Any ideas?

Hm,m,m. Something's not quite right. If I R-click, select properties, it opens a window with three tabs: Target, General, and Sharing. I click on sharing, and under "Network sharing and security" I select "Share this folder on the network." I type in a share name. Now that folder will show up on my network. I can see all the files in that folder, but I cannot copy, or transfer, or open ANY .exe files, and "some".wma files, .mp3 files or .zip files. I can open or transfer or copy any other files (.txt, .rma, .doc, etc), but if I try to even copy a .exe file over the network I get a message that says I cannot acces the file, "The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

I don't get it. Some files are accessible, others not.

I do have Symantec Norton Security installed, but I cannot find anything in its settings that speaks to this. In fact, the problem persists even if I disable Internet Security.

Please help.

Tergin
