After every sometime, the mouse gets out of control n starts moving around the screen on its own. It keeps clicking around the screen, windows open, windows close .... This happens even if im using the computer. Everything gets completely out of control for me. Mostly the mouse goes into the lower left corner of the screen n starts clicking continuously on the start menu. Therez no trojan or virus, then y is this happening? Plz help cuz this is driving me

The only thing that would exibt that behavior would be remote controling sofware (PC Anywhere, etc).

I think XP has one built in. Dude, somebody has to be connecting to your system remotely.

Based on this, I suppose it is possible that someone has connected remotely, but I would certaintly do what Wolfeymole suggested and try a different mouse.

I also wanted to clear something up regarding XP's built in remote admin software. The only way someone can connect to you without you knowing in is if you ask them (but then you'll know, right?). This is called Remote Assistance, and it requires you to "ask" for help.

The other feature is Remote Desktop. While this does allow a remote user to control your machine as if they were there, it logs off any other users first. Due to this, there is no way someone could be connected to your machine using Remote Desktop at the same time you are using your computer.

This does not mean that someone cannot get into your system though. There are many viruses (trojans) that allow remote admin and they are widely available. Because you are on a "always on" connection, your machine is a target unless you have either a firewall or a router.

Sorry for the length. Just FYI. Hope it helps.

i have the connection firewall enabled and i have disabled allowing other ppl to connection to my comp through remote desktop or remote assistance. So i dont think someone connecting to my computer remotely is a possible reason for this. I will try changing the mouse though.
Thanks guys for ur help

Use some third party software like zone alarm it will help you stay "cloaked" on the internet. As well don't rely on xp's security settings get Norton Internet Security or simalar.

this may only happen when there are conflict with some other device It happened to me before after I installed my CDRW it made a big conflict which made the made the mouse behave that weird just try to check other drivers and reinstall it again to remove any corruption beside the mouse driver it's self

If your mouse isn't the problem, and it's not a driver issue as Ahmed suggested, and you've scanned for trojans, it could be a 'legitimate' remote control program besides the default Windows Remote Desktop. PC Anywhere as Philip mentioned or more likely VNC, which is lightweight, and can just be launched, as opposed to 'installed'
