I own a Kensington Wireless optical Mouse. The mouse has been working fine for around 2 months till I recently reinstalled windows xp pro and from there my mouse stopped working. I reinstalled drivers and that didnt work, then i deleted all old drivers and tried again. No luck. The only time there is any response from the reciever is when windows boots up. But once it gets to the log-in screen the lights stop I think ive tried everything for this damn thing. It connects USB.
THANKS for any help

Have you tried the latest drivers dated 6/11/03? You can download them (3.80 MB) at the link below.

to summarize:
the batteries in those wireless mice usually do not last more than three months at the most. start there first. make sure you try the "connect" buttons on the mouse and the receiver. lastly, make sure you get the most current drivers. make sure to post the solution when you get it working. i'm curious now.

Ive tried all of that. I have no idea why its acting up like this. Batteries are rechargeable there good as new. I really need this solved its a burden trying to run a pc without a mouse and this is a 50$ mouse so i dont feel like jus giving up and buying new 1. Is there anything I am overlooking?

you might also try using an adapter to allow your usb receiver to plug into the standard mouse port, ps/2. this could narrow the problem down a bit. i think most cordless mice come with the apropriate adapter.
also checkout the string at:

I just reinstalled yesterday maybe ill give it another go later. I just put the mouse right into my laptop and it worked fine without any software or drivers installed. If the mouse is plug and play why is there a conflict on my sytem????

did you read the string at:

also, check out the usb ports in your device manager to be certain they are functioning properly. Make sure they are enabled and do not have a conflict. you may want to try uninstalling them and then restarting your pc and allowing xp to re-detect them and reinstall.

JOX447 THAT WAS A GREAT IDEA!!! deleting the usb I cant believe i didnt think about it. EVERY1 WHO CONTRIBUTED THANKS also
