Ok, my computer was working fine, then after installing something other things stopped working, so I system restore back and now those things work fine again. But noooow, Internet Explorer cannot open search engine pages. I know it sounds wierd. But yeah. I can goto the main page of yahoo and msn to try and search, but after typing the search, it doesnt work. I get the "page cannot be displayed error". Google and altavista I cant even load the mainpage. It's really annoying, and I'm positive it must be from the system restore, does anyone have any idea what's going down?

I also just downloaded Opera to try a different browser and I get the same thing. I also virus scanned and everything... help meeee.... :(

Theres a post abit down on the forums where something has been hijacked. You can also go about this like a detective would go about finding clues.

1)Take screen shots using key that says
[prt scr / sys rq] up near F12 key
Procedure on that:
- Hit [prt src] button once
- Open Paint
- In paint hit ctrl+V
What should happen....
It should paste a exact copy of what it says in ur web browser. Look over each screen shot carefully notice if there is any diffrences. Save As those files... save them as yourname.jpg's .Im sure you know how to save files, do jpg cause it takes less space , but good quality.

Next step...
Go to each site and do this. Then compare the errors, all same or diffrent. From there you should maybe check this forum out and see if it matchs any of this info. http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/79830.html If so then then your answers are there, if not heres a few more options

a.) go to symantecs and use there free security check and viruse scanner heres the link, and it is strait to it...its a service http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?j=1&langid=ie&venid=sym&plfid=20&pkj=EOZDPJUIYCZRWEJGSSK

b.) Go to google and type in a question, if google doesnt come up hmmm... let me check something right fast go to downloads.com and download a free trial version of web ferret, and search for it that way.

c.) I think ive had it before....you may needed to reformat, but reformatting is simple, if you need help on that i can publicly post that on my site. True fixing problems with windows some times is hard, but i like challenges.

d.) May need to post a service editor cmd and send you screen shots of what it should look similar too

note: if we need to go as far as reformatting i may suggest backing up your current work/saved games.

AS you noticed i havent even mentioned the system restore but the thing is , if all those methods dont work... theres a virus in system restore, and you have to reformat anyways, or do a system restore if you fix it

night and happy hunting
