I have a problem which is really weird. I just purchased a new 19" wide screen envision LCD monitor. I can no longer play any games. The reason I can't play is no games will load. For instance I put in my GTA San Andreas CD in and it acts like its going to load (Shows a spinning cd icon)then nothing just my desktop. I can load in other stuff just fine but not games. Is there something I need to do since I'm using a wide screen monitor? Or is it the games I have won't work with a wide screen monitor?
My graphics card is ATI All in wander 9800. I have had no problems playing games with my old 19" envision standard LCD monitor.

The native resolution for this LCD is 1440x900 - it is too wide horizontally for games. Experiment with different resolutions until you find the one compatible with the particular game (each may be different).

I have tried them all and still nothing. I hooked up my other monitor back up and GTA loads just fine.

That's because the display of your old 19" is "standard," not widescreen. Does GTA support widescreen resolution?

I just installed the latest drivers from ATI and boy do I have a mess now. Now I have to go and removed everything from my video card and start over and put the original drivers back in.

Clean your drivers out with this tool Driver Cleaner Pro.
The program is for ATI, nVidia, Creative, Realtek, SIS, 3Dfx, S3 and more drivers.
First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel, then reboot. After rebooting, run the program.
If you really want a good description of what steps you should take, then you really need to read the readme file included in the zip file and installation as it contains a detailed step by step description.

Some wide screen sets only need the games enable box to be checked, have you looked up the monitor program settings?

Wombat, I will try what you suggested if ATI support can't help. I submitted a suport ticket to them regarding the errors in event viewer after installing the latest drivers.
Old Salt, do you mean catalyst control center? Device manager? I can not find anything on my computer that has anything about playing games in wide screen.
XpUser, GTA SA does support wide screen. When I had my old monitor hooked up I set it to use wide screen within the game. But still having problems with the game loading when I hook up my wide screen monitor.

That's good to hear. Did the new monitor come with user manual? See what it says. No manual? Download one from HERE.
Plz keep us posted. I wish I could pinpoint the problem. Problem is I don't use widescreen or play GTA SA.

XpUser, I cannot find anything in the manual (both online and my manual) for playing games. I also can't load F.E.A.R, Call of Duty 2, and Red Alert 2.

Envision monitors quality & workmanship never have impressed me. Can you return it & exchange it for another but better brand? I uses LG - it's pretty good.

Yeah I could return it but I can't afford to get anything else. I too am not that impressed with this wide screen monitor but my other standard envision 19" monitor looks awesome and has worked great for aprox. 2 years I've had it. Problem is that I gave it to my son for a christmas present.

I took back the envision and got a olevia 23" widescreen monitor/tv and problem is solved. All my games load now and they sure look awesome on this new moniter!

I'm happy for you. After all it was the lemon EnUNvision itself that nearly ruined your Christmas.
