Hi, I searched over the net for some charts of the best antiviruses but I didn`t find yet. Before using an antivirus, I would like to know wich one is the best. Please tell me your opinions on this matter.Thanks.

i use avg guard, its free and its good.
i had norton 2k2 for a while untill it could not get rid of a virus i had.
its a load of pooh:)

Norton seems to work well in my application. For a review of a indepth study look at http://agn-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/vtc/. I think Kaspersky edged out most, but it costs $99.

Norton failed on me too. Now I am using Trend PC-cillin, not the best protection, but use less resources and easy to setup and won't mess up your system in case you want to remove it. I asked the same question couple of months ago in the "Security and Virus" forum, and they gave me very good advice. Many experts there consider NOD32 is the best, but sometimes good antivirus program might use more resources. You can also check out the Cnet antivirus review, and look at the user comments, especially negative comments, and you might find out more information about the software you are going to install. Don't trust the official Cnet review, as most people believe they are being "paid" to write good review, including me.

The websites for the various testing labs are good place to start, one of the best ones is the VIRUS BULLETIN, then there is ICSA. ESET's NOD32 is in first place, then Norton a close second. The best buy is Norton 2002 for $10 at just about any website EBAY, AMAZON.COM from secondary suppliers that are certified. I also like srnmicro's SOLO and computer associate's ETRUST.

McAfee beats Norton in benchmark tests; it is sometimes knocked, though, for not being quite as easy to use (although I have never had any problem with using it in 5+ years)

you shure its Norton ANTI-virus?
The difference is like calling Optix Pro a Network Administration Tool...
Norton Anti-Virus does what it says, but then when you are not looking it slaps you in the butt
It's authentication method is to send URLs of the websites you visit to their centralized server to verify that you are not using any software piracy programs. Basically same thing that a trojan horse does.
Man, Optix Pro is a great network administration tool acording to Symantec's ethics :)

Idiots...to even suggest that McAfee's updates and/or protection compares to anything is ludicrous.
Norton,Nod32...AVG for free. Those are my votes,in that order.

I just heard about another one on Tech TV. I follow their recommendations, and they have a website. I downloaded one called eTrust from Computer Associates. It works to clean up infected files.

Hey, TheKid, I just go on what the impartial tests show, not obvious bias. Be careful about bringing up who might be an idiot. (And I get regular updates as frequently as there is a need for them...)

I also use AVG Free Edition 6, and it has caught every single virus/trojan that has tried to enter my system. The perks of this AV system include: Free updates for life, Excellent scanning quality, Speed of scanning; (I scan 46GB of data in under 40 miniutes), Heristics analisys, Macro detection, Virus vault, and more. The only drawback to this is that if you want to enter advanced mode, you have to purchase a lisence to use it.

Solo Antivirus is the best from my point. www.srnmicro.comIt contains a monitor to stop NEW Internet worms and adware programs. Try Solo trail version and you will know the differnce.
