Solved why product code in file unattend.txt xp pro says invalid pr

Specs: Windows 7

I have a sony vio desktop. Yes it is old running xp home. It needs to refreshed. I tried to make a refresh disk, but that failed. I have a lic'd version of xp pro with lic'd product code. I have confirmed my product key in unattend.txt, however when I go to install it says invalid product key. From what I read it maybe because of OEM hardware conflict with my install cd. Looking for some advice. Thanks, Richard Helpless !

The product key should have been retrieved from your system before you wiped the HDD. The key that's in the UNATTEND.txt file is generic, it's the same key on ALL XP discs. Even if you managed to use it to install XP, you wouldn't be able to activate it. You need to use the licensed key. Is there an XP COA sticker on the tower?

"probably becasue original sytem was xp home the install cd I have is xp pro...damm!"

Borrow a XP Home CD & use your product number.
