why doesn't my PC recognize USB drives

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4 2.6GHZ intel/60 gb
hi good evening i have a problem about my PC the 2nd USB connectors doesn't work it didn't recognize any USB i used to insert for my personal and important used even in my home work. because every time i inserted it and click in my computer then i click again the removable disk where i inserted it the PC always say " pls. insert a disk into drive G" then i try another type of USB and its the same and even i change place where i inserted it it still the same problem i've incountered .... now i can't used it for my study purposes hope you can help me in fastest easy and effective way i didn't want to disturb you but i need because i have so many deadline in terms of my study and other purposes thank you and god bleesed you alll.

Went bad, connector came off, disabled in bios???

Buy a USB/PCI card and fit it into a spare PCI slot inside your PC case. This will give you 3 or 5 working USB ports (depending on which model you buy).
