Alright guys...Windows XP machine that is used as a server for Peachtree, Timeclock functions, and internet connection for 4 other computers. The problem started when the computer began to blue screen with "IRQ LESS" yada yada...with no particular file in the error message. The computer would obvisiouly reboot and would come up with the "Your computer has recovered from a serious error" To stop this message I downloaded the patch from MS and turned off the reboot option in the control panel. It was only happening when I was only so I changed out my dial up modem and upgraded to SP2.
I was working fine for 8 hours and then bam..reboots..this time with no errors. Turned it back on...20 mins later..reboots. Turn it back on and now it reboots every 2 mins. Im not at the office right now so I cant test it...but would this be to overheating? PSU? CPU? MoBo? I tested at home and the temp never went above 49...but maybe its the heat rising as other computers are using it through the network? Maybe its the PSU? Its a Compaq computer..2 years old...256MB and a p4 1.8 cpu.
How should I go about troubleshooting for MINIMAL costs?
Thanks

sounds like a CPU over heating, usually the BIOS would automatically rebot the PC without notice do to security measure during a over heat situation. i would decrease the amount of voltatge on the back of your PC's power supply, and i would also buy a more efficienty fan cooling system for the CPU. CPU cant handle extreme heat without dammage.

I let the computer sit overnight and its still doing it in the morning now. Wouldnt that rule out overheating? Im guessing PSU or Memory? How do I test both?

open of the case and look for CPU voltage jumper to verify if the cpu is getting the coorect dosage of electicity, and also how hold is that PC? check what kind of memory be more specific, you can right click on mycomputer icon and go to property to check system config and RAM. but it depends onw hat kind of info your are inquiring.

the only way to test the power supply is the buy the mulitimeter and calculate the amount of voltage it dispencees, other than that i dunno if there is any program that calculate voltage.
im pretty sure u can find info on the standard output of the molets and the atx power connector and compare it to that with a multimeter.

>> i would decrease the amount of voltatge on the back of your PC's power supply,<<
Don't change anything there. That only effects mains voltage and should not need to be changed once it is set.
Donaload and run Motherboard monitor. That will tell you what the voltages are.

could be a corrupted driver

14. Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL---This common error occurs when a driver tries to access an improper memory address. Check for unsigned drivers, recently installed or updated antivirus programs, disk utilities, and backup programs.

Go here for everest. It will give you voltages. http://www.lavalys.com/products/overview.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=1

Turned out to be Norton 2005 causing the problem. Ive uninstalled and no rebooting in 7 hours.....Anyone ever hear of this?
