I have a white box in the middle of my desktop on a windows xp desktop. I have done a system restore, and I have ran several different malware, spyware and etc. I have on my computer Avast, Comodo firewall, super antispyware, malwarebytes and spybot. I use ATF once a week to clear my temporary files. I do not know what caused this problem or how to get rid of it. Please help me. I am not sure if it is a virus or not. I am going to be needing my computer to be safe because I am going to be having medical files on my computer that has to be secure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most Virus and Spyware scans are likely to work better in Windows Safe-Mode.
See if box is not there when you are in Safe-Mode.
If it is not there, then it may be related to some program running in the background in Normal Windows. You can do Start, then RUN, then type
msconfig
Then uncheck items in the Startup tab.

dreamcatcher, Here's another thing to check.
Right click your "Desktop", choose "Properties", under the "Desktop" tab click the "Customize Desktop" button, under the "Web" tab uncheck ALL items, click Apply/OK.
