Solved Which is better: IE8 or Google Chrome

IE 8 or Google Chrome? I have been using IE8 for sometime now but every now-and-then when installing a downloaded program I am given the option of installing Google Chrome as my web browser. I feel tempted to switch but I'm worried I might loose data or that some of my programs like Star Downloader might not work with Google Chrome. Any views on this from the experts please?

Chrome :) 1+
Chrome has way better extensions including Video Downloaders which work well.
Also if you really don't like Chrome you can always go back to IE8?
You should try Chrome thats the best way to learn.

Why not just try it and see? You can have both browsers installed at the same time. You might also like to try out Firefox and Opera. Different people prefer different browsers.

Thanks guys. I will try Chrome. Just a question. If I install Chrome and keep IE8, how do I select which one to use at a particular point?

Whenever you start one, the browser will ask you if you want to make that one your default.

Just click on the appropriate icon to open whichever browser you want to use. As Razor says, Windows does treat one browser as the default, but that only matters when you click on a link in an email or something similar. Otherwise you just use one browser or the other - or you can have them both open at once if you want to see how the same page looks in both of them.
