Specs: Windows XP Home SP2, P4@2.8GHz/512MB

Where is character map usually located? All Programs|Accessories|System Tools? And what is the exact Character Map file on the hard drive. Suddenly, I can't find it anywhere.

It should be where you mentioned in your original post, if not try doing a search for the file

Start > Search > All Files and Folders (in the box on the left hand side of the screen)then just type in Character Map, should bring back what your looking for and tell you where the file is located on your computer.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I found it under System32. I dont know what happened. Everytime I went to it's shortcut on my start list or under System Tools, it wasn't there. Tried to put it back there, reboot, same story. System Restore seemed to fix it.
