Where to look for the driver?

September 23, 2009 at 15:37:58
Specs: Windows XP
I have formatted my machine and have installed all the necessary drivers needed to restore functionality except the sound card. The sound card I have was replaced by with one other than the company-installed one when my motherboard got fried. The problem with locating it is that I have no idea what version it was before I formatted my machine. All I know is that it is either a Realtek or Soundmax product. I can't run driver detective because I get the error saying that it is not a windows installer package. I can't physically open my machine because I've given up on trying to unhook the screws that have jammed the sockets. Any advice?

Jammed Screws can be opened be using a pocket knife. Put the knife blade between screw head and case and open it by using a screwdriver.

Then check, what sound card you have.
