Okay i was wondering if anyone can help me with this issue. I installed a few games on my pc and removed them. After doing so i checked my space it was a lil strange because i was left with less space then before. So i installed and removed one of the games again it did the same thing. Left me with less HD space then before.

I told a friend about this and he informed me that when i delete large files from my PC that theres images that are kept on the HD still for recovery purposes. He said it was called Ghost files. Im not sure if thats all correct. I did do a scan disc and still nothing. If anyone is able to help me i would greatly appreciate it. I just want more space on my HardDrive again. Thank you all beforehand for any help you can provide me with.

folezzy,
You can delete your old restore points and recover a lot of hard drive space.
Click "my computer" >> right click "local disk C" if yours is C and choose properties.
Click "disk cleanup" this will take a minute or so. Then click the "more options tab and under system restore click "cleanup" and say yes to (are you sure) then click ok and say yes again. This will also delete your old tempory internet files or you will be given that option not too but if you're looking for more free space, do it.
You won't believe how much space you will recover.

Regards

also, along with smokey's suggestion, you can go to control panel>>system>>system restore and check on your (C: drive?) to see what amount of space is set aside for system restore.
if you set the amount to a lower level you my find your hdd has more available capacity.
i have a 34 gig partition and have set aside 1.4 gig/4% for system restore which saves a good few backup points.

on my old pc it was a ridiculous amount like 20% and by reducing it i recovered a lot more space!

good luck

hey there ...

you might find that you have system restore turned on. this creates a folder on EACH hard drive you have called "system volume information".

to turn this off, right click on my computer, and go to properties. click on the "system restore" tab, and TICK the "turn off the system resotore on all drives".

you will more than likely not be able to view these folders ON your own machine, they are simply there in case you need to do a system restore if your machine crashes, but if you have a network, share your drive and view these folders across a network.

also, when you partition a drive like you have, this takes up space. it also depends on what file system you've used. (fat32 or ntfs).

hope this helps.
