Where does it go?

I was downloading a 800MB game today, but decided halfway through the download I didn't want it. I checked in My Computer and found I lost about half a gig of space. I chose to save the file to the desktop, but where did it go in the meantime? I cleared cookies and Temp Inet Files but I still haven't gotten the space back. Any ideas where the game went?
Is it still on the desktop? if so rt click-properties-find target. If not probably in a temp folder depending on what program you were using to download it.

It's not on the desktop. Even checked hidden files. Dl'd it with IE, not using any download managers.
