A lot of times when I download files that are execuables, and i accidentaly cancel out of the program or installation that have just downloaded, where do these files go? Are they removed from the computer, or are they placed in a special folder so that I can access them w/o downloading the file again?? Thanks, Ben

when you download a program, most of the time you are prompted to "save in" and that's where you designate the download destination folder...usually this is consistant with all downloads, unless you change that folder....do a practice download from a site and see which folder it will be saved in and if that's the folder you want, keep it as is, then cancel the download...i usually create a folder named "downloads" for this

You can go to start - search - search for files or folders and type in *.exe in the search field. This will find all executable files on your hd. After you locate the exe file you are looking for you can right click and select create shortcut to place another icon on your desktop or go to properties and find the location of the program.
Hope this helps.

Downloads that are going to be "auto installed" often are placed in a temporary folder that (created by the download manager) that is deleted when the install is completed.

I think he's also talking about incomplete downloads. Usually they're just lost if using the ordinary IE downloader. Third party download managers (and there are plenty of them) can help with resuming broken downloads. Of course they only work with download servers that support resumption of broken downloads.
