Hi, right now, temporarilly, I am using a small 8.4GB drive till I get my 160GB up and running. I am VERY low on space, got it up to 27MB lastnight. I was looking at my installed programs and decided to get rid of "Ares" (file sharing proggy), it said 481MB which I thought was big, and my music was in a seperate folder, so I figured I'd get that much back, but I didn't! Where did the 481mb go??? I cleared my recylcle, cookies, temps, preftech folder, defragged....I'm stumped...
Any ideas??

Simply put, it could have been a program that was already uninstalled but never taken out of certain areas, e.g. registry, or in your case the add/remove programs folder. I too have came across that, well, where i uninstalled something (not through add/remove) and when i looked in add/remove a few days later it was there.
Also, this could be related to a virus. Recently i was just randomly looking up viri's, and found an interesting one. I do not recall the name, but what it does is, takes up room on your hdd, and basically fills it to capacity, i'd recoomend to make sure your virus def. are upto date, and running a virus check.

A small point. But it drives us bonkers. (I guess we're easily agitated.)
The plural of virus is viruses. Not viri, nor any other spelling.
No offense intended. You can confirm it here.
Beer, Barbeque, Best Movies

Well, now i know, but viri looks better then viruses, oh well, cant win them all.
You can be amused by the simplest of things. The smartest people in the world, over-look the smallest objects.
