when XP boots up it only boots up in low res

Specs: Windows XP HOme, 1GB
My issue is that all of a sudden desktop running XP Home, only boots up in very low resolution (640x480 4bit) BUT if I boot up in Safe Mode it boots up in in high resolution (1280x1024 16 bit), and if I boot "Enable VGA" it's still 640x460 but its 16 color. In the "Enable VGA" when i go into Display Settings and try and change it to 16-bit or adjust the resolution higher, it defaults to 640x480 4bit.

Any ideas

Go into Device Manager, click on the + alongside Display adapters. Right click on the driver & click on > Uninstall.
