When querying modem, system freezes

December 18, 2010 at 14:42:05
Specs: Windows XP
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows XP Home Edition. Was installing a Zoom 56K USB Mini External modem. Went through the installation, showed hardware succesfully installed, then went through control panel to query modem and system freezes. After that, tried installing my US Robotics external fax modem on same computer. Followed directions down the line. Then it said "Please connect your modem and start." Modem was already connected. System did not recognize it. If this question posted earlier, my apologies for the double post.
