Hi
They are not really needed with modern monitors, years back when you had the same thing on your screen for ages, it would leave an imprint.it does not happen on monotors these days.

If you happen to have ATMs a few years old in your area that use regular screens (not LCD), take a look. You can usually easy make out the menu image since it displays that screen so much

Nope, screen savers save less than nothing. They were created in those days when Monitors were used all day with the same immage so that some of the image, graphic etc was burn into the Monitor screen. The screen saver was moving different objects to prevent those burn ins. This is not happening any more with the nowaday screens.

If you have a good graphics card (G-Force etc.) you can install some great 3D screen savers (such us "Goldfish Aquarium") by wich you can impress your friends ... or yourself!

Screen Savers does nothing else, just a great 3D picture.

I disagree about modern monitors. I work in a place where monitors are on 24 hours a day and they all have burnt in images on them after as while. These are generally Sony/Panasonic and other top range monitors. Its unlikly to happen at home but screensavers are nice to watch... sometimes.
